Media is a complex and often bewildering subject for students and teachers alike and yet it is vital that we all understand how it impacts and influences us from a young age.

In-School Visits by Media News Team
Yr 3 – Yr 8

The Media News Team can come into your classroom and hothouse your students for 2 hours on aspects of the media to which they are unlikely to have access. We demystify what happens with all the ‘behind-the-scenes’ information. What happens in a Newsroom, how news is gathered and by whom and the structure of written news reports, are just some of the topics we can cover.

Our workshops can include Newspapers, Radio, TV and the Internet, how they compliment each other as well as compete against each other.

The program teaches students how to understand and use Newspapers, TV, Radio and the Internet and develop a critical thought process about what they hear, see and read in news and advertising.

We  provide students with insight into newsrooms, roles of a journalist, writing styles, the world of advertising and marketing, print production, editorial cartooning and a myriad of other media related topics. Group work, role plays and individual participation make it an interactive experience for all.

MNT works with Teachers to select topics which best suit their class and/or units of work being completed.

“Great visuals’, ‘fun and engaging’, ‘good clear explanations’,
‘Well prepared, visually stimulating”.
